15th April 2020 - Spring Newsletter |
Novel Coronavirus – As of February 26th 2020I am writing to update you of the College’s response to the COVID-19 outbreak. As you will be aware, the situation is changing on a daily basis and I would encourage you to keep yourselves informed and seek advice if you are in any doubt as to the health and wellbeing of any family members. The following links may be useful:
Based on the current evidence from the World Health Organisation (WHO) and Public Health England (PHE) there is no immediate cause for concern in the UK, however, we have nonetheless taken the following basic precautions at WIC:
If you have returned from any one of the areas listed upon the PHE website since February 19th please follow the advice contained within and inform the School as soon as possible. As of today, this includes Northern Italy, however the PHE website has two different pieces of advice dependent upon the region(s) that you visited. Please check this information carefully if you have visited Italy recently. We ask that any staff, student or family who intends to travel to, or may have direct contact with anyone from, a COVID-19 specified area (as per the PHE website) informs College at Health@walthamintcollege.ac.uk. We would obviously need to seek specific advice on the basis on which a pupil would return to College having visited such an area. There is no need to keep the college notified if you travel to anywhere else in the world, unless you suspect you have come into contact with a confirmed case of COVID-19, in which case please contact NHS 111 for further advice. The wellbeing of our whole college community is of the utmost importance at this time, and we will continue to keep you informed as the situation and official advice changes. Should you wish to discuss any of the above, please do not hesitate to contact us. |
